The story about the adoptive parents who tragically drove their kids off the cliff was a design challenge that I was eager to take on. It was important to help the reader through the story with such a complicated timeline and so many key players.

However, only a handful of photos were available and cleared for us to use of the family.

The solution was a slider that divided the story by time and showed the reader some pull-out text from documents in the investigation. Since the story ran, I’ve seen other pieces using a similarly formatted slider, which showed the effectiveness of this design. This is something I hope to streamline into a template format for future use by other designers.
